Research in the WONG group uses the Darwinian evolution approach to engineer proteins and microorganisms for meeting challenges in industrial biotechnology. We have developed methods to improve enzyme stability and activity using directed evolution and evolved microorganisms (E. coli, R. eutropha H16, Rhodococcus jostii RHA1 and oleaginous yeasts) for production of industrial chemicals.
