Biocatalysis

Our work in biocatalysis focuses mainly on (1) fatty acid-modifying enzymes and (2) lignocellulose-degrading enzymes:

Carboxylic acid reductases;
Carbonyl reductases;
Lipases/esterases;
Cytochrome P450s;
Dye-decolorizing enzymes;

We have also identified and engineered a series of protein fusion partners for efficient extracellular protein secretion in bacteria. This generally applicable technology offers several advantages:

Simplifying downstream processing (DSP) and, therefore, saving cost;
Facilitating high-throughput screening in directed protein evolution;
Facilitating expression of toxic proteins;
Enabling simultaneous saccharification & fermentation (SSF);
